Based in Copenhagen, Cafelat's Designer Karina Mencke, has been able to give a fresh and professional perspective on existing products as well as work with them to develop completely new items that have allowed Cafelat to elevate the standard in industry.
By working close with them, Karina produced a series of items with great commercial appeal but also items that assist the barista or home user to get the most from their coffee.

Paul Pratt, the owner of Cafelat, comments "Having Karina on board from the very beginning of Cafelat meant that they were able to quickly establish a very clear and consistent product outlook that is apparent in each item she has designed - in fact her designs are Cafelat. After an initial brief was given, Karina went away and was able to come back with many concepts and ideas that were so totally fresh and unique yet remained focused on the prime objective - to have each and every product be the best it could be in the industry and still be a cohesive family of products with the distinct Cafelat style."


Cafelat VST/Strada Royal 58.35 mm Tamper Out of Stock - Our next shipment of Cafelat Products has been delayed and is expected to arrive in March 2012. Cafelat is proud to introduce its newly designed Royal tamper to fit VST insert baskets. This tamper was specially hand-crafted and custom made so that it falls well into the accepted specifications of the VST baskets, 58.35 mm +/- 0.05 mm. Each and every tamper was measured and inspected before being shipped, printed on an accompanying card. The flat base is made from high grade stainless steel and have a fine satin brushed finish. It also comes now with a nice polished top and a tamper holder. Like other Cafelat tampers, it is perfectly balanced and a joy to hold, designed to fit the shape of the fingers and the hand, resulting in a comfortable tamping experience every time. [more]

Cafelat Tamping Mats Out of Stock - Our next shipment of Cafelat Products has been delayed and is expected to arrive in March 2012. Cafelat currently has 3 different tamping mats to offer – the flat mat, their own unique corner mat, and the new splat mat. Tamping mats are an essential must-have accessory for every barista, be it in a busy commercial setting or at home. The Flat Mat and the Corner Mat are now made of FDA Silicone. Silicone will wipe off clean if any coffee spills on it. These mats have been extensively tested and they proved to be extremely durable, had no odor or taste, and thanks to Karina they look amazing. All 3 of the mats come in beautiful packaging with UPC codes on them. Cafelat Knock Boxes Out of Stock - Our next shipment of Cafelat Products has been delayed and is expected to arrive in March 2012. We apologize for the amount of items that are currently out of stock and will update the website as new information is available.The Tubbi Knockbox is the perfect accessory for the home barista to help dispose of espresso pucks. It was over a year in development and went through many prototypes before this final brilliant, yet very simple design was finalized. The box is made of ABS plastic and is extremely tough. The food safe rubber bar is reinforced with stainless steel, just like the classic knockbox, the rubber bar absorbs the energy from the portafilter to minimize the noise. There is a non-slip rubber pad on the bottom that prevents it moving and reduces noise while being used. The knockbox may be small but it can comfortably hold 10 double pucks of coffee before it needs emptying. To empty just lift the rubber bar out and discard the coffee. The plastic tub is dishwasher safe but a simple rise with a little detergent works every time. The Cafelat Knockbox, simply put is a larger version of the Tubbi in a different shape. The design is extremely functional and looks great. The box is about the same size as the original Classic Knockbox and can easily hold 50 double pucks before it needs emptying. Cafelat Drop 58 & 53 mm Tampers Shaped like a chocolaty sweet blob of espresso oozing from the portafilter spouts, the Drop tamper is elegant and fits the hand very well. Cafelat Pillar 58 & 53 mm Tampers New with this shipment - The 58 mm Black Pillar now has a flat base and can be used with the VST Strada Baskets. The 58 mm Pillar Convex Tamper is available in Red, Brown & Orange, and the 53mm is available in Black. They all come with a Free Tamper Holder! The Pillar tamper was one of Cafelat's first designs in the project. It not only looks funky but has a really great feel in the hand. The vertical ridges provide an easy grip which is perfect for the final polishing spin of the tamper. [more]

Cafelat Tamper Seat Coming Soon! There has been such an interest in purchasing this tamper holder that we decided to add it to our product offering. Many people who already have a nice tamper simply want a nice holder to put it in, to protect both the bottom of their tamper and their expensive, granite counter tops. Cafelat Tamper Hanger The Cafelat Tamper Hanger is one of those products where the genius is in the sheer simplicity of the idea. Karina was able to come up with this and a lot of other of Cafelat's unique products because she has a fresh approach to the coffee world without any preconceived ideas of what items may or may not be in the market already. Once you use the hanger you will never want to be without it. It is great to have a dedicated place for the Cafelat tamper so you always know where it is, and being away from the tamping area means it is kept away from water and coffee grounds. Cafelat Steaming Pitchers The Cafelat milk pitchers were one of our biggest challenges. The unique design Karina came up with uses our signature Cafelat outline as seen on our cups, glassware and Cafelat Knock box. The difficult part was in the small details that make the milk pitcher great for the barista to use, namely the spout and the handle. Made from extra thick stainless steel our pitchers have a satin brushed finish and a raised pour spout to help with latter art. The thick walls of the pitcher make it strong and heavy, perfect for the final swirl and for knocking out those air bubbles if you tap in on the counter top. Since the original bumper stand was launched in 2006, tamping stands have become more and more popular. Once they were seen as quirky training tools to help promote level tamping with single spouts or bottomless portafilters, but now they are gaining acceptance in full-time use in cafes and bars around the world. The Cafelat tamping stand builds upon the original bumper stand and organizes it into a single compact unit. The frame inside is stainless steel and then coated with a food grade rubber.
