Having had both a stepped and stepless grinder with dosers, I wanted to try a stepless, doserless grinder this time. I'd had a MaCap M4 and it was a great grinder. Unfortunately, They don't make a stepless, doserless grinder, so I went with the Compak. Pros: Stepless, & doserless Small footprint Light weight Little to no grounds remain in grinder
Cons: Oily beans play havoc with the timed grind function making it unreliable Trying to grind small quantities of beans, i.e., 7-16 grams, can result in the beans just spinning in the chamber without being ground. The grinder works best with beans kept in the hopper.
Would I buy the Compak K3 again? NO
Would I recommend it to a Friend? NO
If I had it to do over again, I'd buy the MaCap M4 stepless and put up with the doser.

This is my first grinder and, so far, it is working great. She is a beast, all 19 lb. of her. This grinder is very sturdy and simple and is very easy to use. A plus for me because it seems like a lot less to go wrong. It was fairly simple to set the grind and it has been producing wonderful, creme rich espresso ever since.
