Product Code: SSS-04

The purpose of this adapter and digital thermometer is to facilitate the measurement of brew water temperature about 1.25" away from the puck during a real brew cycle. In addition, and equally important, it measures the temperature of the group-head under idle conditions. It requires no drilling, tapping, soldering, brazing, cutting, Teflon tape, or epoxy but can ONLY be installed in E61 group-heads that are fully exposed. The difference between the temperature that you will be measuring using this adapter and measured temperature of the water hitting the puck is approximately 3-5 °F but may vary with different machines and different brew conditions and most certainly, varies over the course of a typical 23-27 second shot. The new style thermometer has switches for both the on/off function and temperature scales (°F/°C).

Nice control of temp, great support. February 17, 2017

This product was recommended by a friend and the installation seemed very straight forward and non-distructive, that is can be installed without modification of existing design.   I ran into a little difficulty with the installation as I could not easily screw the device finger tight.  The contact for support was extremely helpful and situation was quickly remedied.  Under magnification there appeared to be a bur in the threads which was easily cleaned with a wing nut from Home Depot.   Since the install, I have not pulled a single sour shot.  This is an essential modification for any owner of an espresso machine with Exposed E61 Grouphead.

Indispensible February 15, 2017

I ordered this thermometer & adapter after taking delivery of a new Andreja espresso machine from Chris's and after having read up on 'Eric's Thermometer' applications on Home Barista Forum.

My goodness, if you have a heat-exchanger type espresso machine, this is a MUST HAVE.

Installation was easy with zero issues.

Using this thermomenter takes the guess work out of how long to pre-flush and for adjusting water temp at the group head as a controlled variable.

As far as I'm concerned, a digital thermometer is a  critical  part of a fully functioning espresso machine,  so this purchase was very important - I am very happy with the results.

Digital Thermometer and Adapter E61 September 19, 2016

Very easy to install.  Works great.  Short of a PID retrofit this is the best way to regulate the brew temperature.  Glad I bought it.  Highly recommend it and Chris Coffee whose service is second to none.
