It is capable of the entire range of grinds, from the finest Turkish and espresso, to the coarsest French press. Its sturdy die-cast housing is finished in stainless steel. Other features include precision ground burrs, precision indexing for a consistent degree of fineness, and a gear reduction motor for lower heat generation. The motor used in the Rocky is the same one Rancilio uses in their commercial grinder, the MD40. It has a large doser for convenient inspection and cleaning. Rocky Doserless Expresso Grinder by Rancilio. February 6, 2017
Reviewer: M. Molina from Concord, CA United States
This grinder works well. But sometimes the beans get stuck. Then I have to pour out the beans into a bowl then refill. So, I never fill the hopper all the way up. (1/2 way max.)Which is not that big of a problem if you like fequently changing the verity of the bean your using. The adjustment of the grinder works great and you can dial the coarse of the grind to fit your needs.

A lot of grinder for a reasonable price December 27, 2016
Reviewer: Peter Honig from Concord, MA United States
I wanted a machine with at least 50mm burrs that would grind for espresso with a high degree of size consistency. The Rocky met all my needs as well as my budget. My only complaint was that oily beans created clumps that often failed to stay within the portafilter after dropping, causing a mess on my counter. However, a simple $22 mini funnel from Orphan Espresso completely solved the problem and now I'm really pleased. Another issue is the horizontal tunnel between the grinding chamber and the shoot that allows grounds to accumulate. It would be better if the grounds fell into an angled shoot, solving both the retained grind and clumping problems. I do not find the stepped grind adjustment to be problem whatsoever, as the change from step to step is small enough to negate this perceived shortcoming. Anyway, don't be turned off by my 4 star rating, as I highly recommend this grinder for both its quality and price. With the addition of a mini funnel this machine is awesome!

Rocky Doserless Grinder October 22, 2016
Reviewer: Dan from Corvallis, OR United States
I had a low-end burr grinder for over 20 years. After years of fantasizing about it, I bought the Rocky. It's wonderful being able to see and taste minor variations in a grind. It does require effort and attention to detail. I teetered on Doser vs. Doserless and glad I chose the latter. Chris' was prompt with no surprises.

Easy to use, consistent grind July 10, 2016
Reviewer: Fernando Pereira from Palo Alto, CA United States
MacKenzie gave me detailed advice on grinder options to replace my very old and worn Gaggia MDF and I went for the Rocky Doserless. I couldn't be happier. My main coffee fare are double espressos from locally roasted single origins and blends. The Rocky is easy to adjust for different bean types, allowing me to get creamy, consistent shots on my Alexia Evo also bought from Chris' Coffee. I have now a perfect setup that promises to keep delivering excellent espresso for many years.
