The new Vesuvius-SST (ASTV - All Stainless Tubing Version)) has all stainless steel tubing. The water level sensor has also been upgraded.

The Vesuvius by M&V is one of the world's first prosumer, computer-controlled espresso machine with an E61 group. It delivers true pressure profiling via its FG304 gear pump and speed-controllable motor. The Vesuvius is operated completely through its PID touch pad display, which informs you of the current temperatures of the boilers, the pressure, and if you are running it off the tank, the amount of water left. These machines all come inside a wooden crate and are bolted to the base of the crate. We then strap the crate to a pallet to ship them.

The Vesuvius has a unique placement for its water tank; instead of being accessed from the top of the machine, usually located right under the cup warming tray, this machine has the tank hidden behind the left side panel, which can be accessed by opening up a simple latch and tilting to the left. No need to constantly remove and stack up your cups every single time you need to add water to the reservoir. The main power switch is also located here.

Letter from the Owner of M&V

"For 3 generations we have designed and manufactured equipment for Hotel, Restaurant, and Catering Business sector.

My grandfather, Umberto Cortese, started the company in the early 50's by repairing and selling coffee machines, with the cooperation of his 3 sons; Letterio, Salvatore and Guiseppe. In 1962 after years of research and development the first ice beverage machine was realized, revolutionizing the production of slush in the world. A hot chocolate copper machine was added to the range of machine products.

Our research and developing equipment work brought in 1983 to a change in the slush world market: the first horizontal developing slush. The new method permitted to reach the best slushes production in half the time. A system adopted by all manufactures until today.

In a multifaceted and evolving market, we went back to the basics by introducing in our production a series of models of coffee machines with unique features in terms of technology and design, pressure profiling, dual boiler lever machine and more.

Everything we produce is made in Italy, and the components used are the result of ongoing research and selection of the best that the European scene can offer.

In memory of my father,
Paolo Cortese
*******************************

We ship this machine strapped to a small pallet and send it via common carrier fully insured. This form of shipping is MUCH more expensive for us than UPS or FedEx, but we feel it is not only worth it but necessary. We have tried both UPS and FedEx and it simply isn't worth it; too many machines got damaged in the process of shipping. The last thing you would want is to place an order for a beautiful machine, only to have it arrive damaged.

Great machine.  Beautiful and functional.  It does take time to learn, but it's worth it!  If you are searching for the perfect espresso, this is a must have!

Still playing with this machine's customized profiles. No longer waiting an hour to warm up the machine like with my other espresso machine (Andreja Premium). No longer waking up everyone at 6 AM with a loud vibratory pump. Great performance, simple but elegant style.
Excellent customer service by Chris staff as usual in particular MacKenzie. I've been a customer since 2005 and I keep coming back.

2 months into pressure profiling and still a novice. One thing is clear, my shots are Fuller, rounder, more balanced and much sweeter. My wife has been adding sugar to her capacinno for 20 years. No more! As always, Chris and family are the most knowledgeable, helpful, honest and fun to deal with. Look nowhere else.

Great Machine Great Service April 7, 2017

Purchased the Vesuvius about 2 months ago.  The delivery service and support were fantastic.   Not a scratch.
If you are anxious to draw and taste your first cup, simply program one phase at 9bar and 40+sec.  This emulates other "non-programmable" machines.  You just shut the lever when the draw is finished stopping the draw  before the timer runs down.   From there you can start experimenting with grinds, times and pressures.

Oh.. one negative.. The reservoir is hardwired to the water level sensor.  My advice... DO NOT try to remove the reservoir to fill it.  You may damage the sensor connections!  Instead, carefully pour water into the reservoir.  You have to open the left side panel, tilt the plastic reservoir out, partially remove the top, pour in about a liter of water, then tuck the sensors back as well as the electric wires.  There is nothing in the manual about this, but it takes some practice to do this without spilling water and without damaging the machine.
