An in tank softening pouch for pour over (reservoir) espresso machines. Simply remove the "Oscar" (short for Osmotic Scale Reduction) from the protective packaging, rinse it under some cold water, and place the softener on the bottom of the water reservoir and fill it with water. It is that easy to install. By means of ionic exchange, the "Oscar" replaces the calcium and magnesium ions present in your drinking water, both in their soluble and insoluble forms, with sodium ions.

How it Works

To give a better idea of how many gallons of water can be softened with one of these pouches we created a small chart below:

# of grains of hardness in your water vs # of gallons of water that can be softened. 5 grains of hardness = 23 gallons can be softened. 7 grains of hardness = 16 1/2 gallons can be softened. 10 grains of hardness = 11 1/2 gallons can be softened. 13 grains of Hardness = 9 gallons can be softened.


Pouch must be changed at least every 18 months from the date of installation or which ever comes first in usage.

We fulfill orders Monday through Friday from our warehouse in Latham, NY. Orders may take anywhere from 1-3 business days to be fully processed and shipped out. We use USPS or UPS as our preferred carriers. Orders over $50 are eligible for FREE shipping within the contiguous U.S., and we reserve the right to select which carrier to use based on cost and speed in which the package will arrive to the final destination. Orders over $250 will require a signature for delivery. Please save all packaging for any future reasons for shipping including returns, exchanges, and repairs. All exchanges & returns must be recieved within 30 days of the ship date.
