How to Drain La Spaziale Dream and Vivaldi Machines

Draining your La Spaziale espresso machine properly helps keep your workspace clean and prevents water from collecting in the drip tray. The Dream and Vivaldi machines both support a drain kit that routes excess water directly into a drain below the counter. The process is straightforward, requires only basic tools, and can be completed in a single session with careful preparation.

Tools You’ll Need
• Phillips screwdriver
• Drill with an appropriately sized drill bit

Before starting, make sure the machine is powered off and cool to the touch. Clear space beneath the machine so you can easily access the underside during installation.

Overview of the Installation
• Drill a hole through the center of the drip tray
• Mount the drain pan (catch cup) underneath the machine
• Drill a vertical hole through the countertop to allow water to drain straight down

This setup relies on gravity, so vertical alignment is important throughout the process.

Step 1: Remove the Drip Tray
• Carefully lift the drip tray straight up
• Set it aside in a safe place where it won’t flex or crack

Step 2: Install the Drain Pan
• Fit the gasket securely onto the drain pan
• Position the drain pan underneath the machine, aligning it with the factory mounting holes in the frame
• Insert the three screws from the top of the machine so they pass downward through the frame
• Thread a nut onto each screw from underneath and tighten until snug

The drain pan should sit flush and stable. Avoid overtightening, as this can warp the gasket or frame.

Step 3: Drill the Drip Tray
• Drill a hole in the center of the drip tray large enough for water to pass freely into the drain pan
• Remove any plastic shavings or debris from the tray

Take your time here—clean edges help ensure smooth drainage and a better fit.

Step 4: Attach the Drain Hose
• Secure the hose to the drain pan’s nipple
• Route the hose straight down through the hole in the countertop

A vertical drop is essential. Any bends or horizontal runs can cause water to back up into the tray.

Step 5: Reinstall the Drip Tray
• Place the drilled drip tray back onto the machine
• Confirm it sits correctly and aligns directly over the drain pan opening

Final Check and Testing
• Confirm all screws and nuts are tight
• Make sure the drain hose is unobstructed and runs straight down
• Pour a small amount of water into the drip tray to verify proper drainage

Once water flows cleanly through the tray and into the drain without pooling, the installation is complete. Your La Spaziale Dream or Vivaldi is now ready for cleaner, hands-off drip management.
